GCSE Business Option Subject 2008

Business Studies is a popular GCSE course, not just because it is something different that you have not studied before but also because it is a varied course that covers real life situations that you might face in the future. Business Studies is one of the more popular Further and Higher Education courses as it is compliments many career choices e.g. sports management, catering management, financial accountant, managing director.

The GCSE Business Studies course that you will follow requires you to take three assessments. There are two 1 ¼ hour written external exams, plus a coursework assignment based on a business problem. Your Business Studies GCSE is part of the National Qualification framework and as such will help you progress to many post 16 (after school) opportunities including; AS and A Levels, Applied GCE, NVQ’s and is a worthwhile course in terms of general education and lifelong learning.

How to achieve the GCSE grades:

To achieve a GCSE Grade A
You will need to show an in-depth knowledge and critical understanding of all the topics studied. Then apply this knowledge and critical understanding, using terms, concepts, theories and methods effectively to address problems and issues. You will selected and organise information from a wide variety of sources and analyse and interpret this information effectively. You will evaluate evidence effectively, making reasoned judgments and presenting conclusions accurately and appropriately.

To achieve a GCSE Grade C
You will show knowledge and understanding of most of the topics studied. You will apply this knowledge and understanding using terms, concepts, theories and methods appropriately to address problems and issues. You will select, organise, analyse and interpret information from a variety of sources. You will make reasoned judgements and present conclusions that are supported by evidence.

To achieve a GCSE Grade F
You will show knowledge and understanding of some aspects of the topics studied. You will begin to apply this knowledge and understanding, using some terms, concepts, theories and methods to address problems and issues. You will show some ability to select, organise, analyse and interpret simple information from a variety of sources. You will make judgements and present simple conclusions that are sometimes supported by evidence.
