GCSE Science Core Subject 2008

Science is a compulsory subject. Studying science will give you a knowledge and understanding of ‘How Science Works’.

What will you study:

A total of six units:

Assessments:

You will sit 6 objective multiple choice tests, these count as 75% of your final marks.

You will also produce during the course of the year a centre assessed piece of work — which assesses your practical skills.

This counts as 25% of the final mark.

The Course

Students on this course will be awarded a single GCSE at the end of Year 11.

Students who opt for additional science will study an additional GCSE Science Course.

This will enable them to be awarded 2 GCSEs in total at the end of year 11.

Higher:
Grades A* - C

Foundation:
Grades C - F
