Teacher Visits LHC at Cern

Hats for Haiti
On Friday 5th February Staff and students wore a hat to raise funds for Haiti.

The First Day of the Spring Term is Tuesday 5th January 2010. See more info in the Christmas newsletter.


Start of Term
The First Day of the Autumn Term Wednesday 9th September 2009 Year 7 students will be starting school at 8:35am on Wednesday 9th September 2009 and will be met by their Guidance Teachers in the Main Hall. The school buses will be running at the usual time in the morning. Students in years 8, 9, 10 and 11 will not start school until 10:15am on Wednesday. As they have already been following their new timetable they will register with their guidance tutor and start lessons at 10:45am. Students coming to school for the 10:15am start will have to make their own way to school as there will be no school buses at this time. The school buses will run as normal at 3pm. The departure times for the buses are detailed below:

Exam RSS Feed RSS Feed
Since the adoption of Moodle by the Exam's Officer, the school has produced it's first RSS Feed. Subscribe to the RSS Feed for Exam announcements and news. For more information about RSS Technology take a look at wikipedia and see how the BBC make good use of it. In addition to RSS our Exams officer has enlisted the help of teaching staff to create a number of Exam Advice webcasts.

Since the Easter break, any updates to the Exam Timetable will now be published on Moodle.

General Open Evening
On Thursday 18th September we invite Years 5 and 6 Pupils, Parents and Carers. The evening will begin at 6:30pm with an introduction to the school in the Main Hall from Headteacher Mr Kevin Beaton. A repeat introduction will take place in the Main Hall at 7:30pm. Areas of the school will be open to for demonstrations and displays. View the Poster.

Removal of Special Measures
On Tuesday 5th February 2008 Ofsted published their report stating that Sydney Smith School no longer required special measures.
